Using multi-level Bayesian lesion-symptom mapping to probe the body-part-specificity of gesture imitation skills
ddc:610
Past attempts to identify the neural substrates of hand and finger imitation skills in the left hemisphere of the brain have yielded inconsistent results. Here, we analyse those associations in a large sample of 257 left hemisphere stroke patients. [...]

How to achieve Tat transport with alien TatA
ddc:000
TatA is an essential and structurally conserved component of all known Twin-arginine transport (Tat) machineries which are able to catalyse membrane transport of fully folded proteins. Here we have investigated if bacterial TatA, or chimeric pea/E. [...]

On the potential alternate binding change mechanism in a dimeric structure of Pyruvate Phosphate Dikinase
ddc:000
The pyruvate phosphate dikinase (PPDK) reaction mechanism is characterized by a distinct spatial separation of reaction centers and large conformational changes involving an opening-closing motion of the nucleotide-binding domain (NBD) and a swiveling motion of the central domain (CD). However, why PPDK is active only in a dimeric form and to what extent an alternate binding change mechanism could underlie this fact has remained elusive. [...]

TEM Analysis of Recrystallized DoubleFforged Tungsten After Exposure in JUDITH 1 and JUDITH 2
ddc:333.7
Five samples of recrystallized pure tungsten were exposed to transient heat loads using the electron beam of the JUDITH 1 and JUDITH 2 installations of Forschungszentrum Jülich. The heat flux and base temperature were the same for all samples; only the number of pulses and exposure device differed. [...]

Use of Tungsten Material for the ITER Divertor
ddc:333.7
Since the ITER divertor design includes tungsten monoblocks in the vertical target where heat loads are maximal, the design to protect leading edges as well as technology R&D for high performance armor-heat sink joint were necessary to be implemented. In the R&D, the availability of the technology was demonstrated by high heat flux test of tungsten monoblock components. [...]

Creating anisotropic spin-split surface states in momentum space by molecular adsorption
ddc:530
In this ab initio study we demonstrate that molecular adsorption on a surface Rashba system can be used to modulate the surface electronic structure in different momentum space directions, i.e., to create anisotropic spin splittings in k space. This effect is rooted in the asymmetric adsorption of the molecules on the surface in a hollow site which breaks the surface symmetry. [...]

O-(2-[$^{18}$F]fluoroethyl)-l-tyrosine PET in gliomas: influence of data processing in different centres
ddc:610
BackgroundPET using O-(2-[18F]fluoroethyl)-l-tyrosine (18F-FET) is an established method for brain tumour diagnostics, but data processing varies in different centres. This study analyses the influence of methodological differences between two centres for tumour characterization with 18F-FET PET using the same PET scanner.Methodological differences between centres A and B in the evaluation of 18F-FET PET data were identified for (1) framing of PET dynamic data, (2) data reconstruction, (3) cut-off values for tumour delineation to determine tumour-to-brain ratios (TBR) and tumour volume (Tvol) and (4) ROI definition to determine time activity curves (TACs) in the tumour. The aggregation into amyloid fibrils of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides is a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease. A variety of Aβ peptides have been discovered in vivo, with pyroglutamate-modified Aβ (pEAβ) forming a significant proportion. [...]

Velocity autocorrelation function in supercooled liquids: Long-time tails and anomalous shear-wave propagation
ddc:530
Molecular dynamic simulations are performed to reveal the long-time behavior of the velocity autocorrelation function (VAF) by utilizing the finite-size effect in a Lennard-Jones binary mixture. Whereas in normal liquids the classical positive t−3/2 long-time tail is observed, we find in supercooled liquids a negative tail. [...]
