Das Gesamtprojekt Soil3 untersucht die Rolle des Unterbodens für die Ernährungssicherung und Produktion gesunder Lebensmittel.Das Ziel ist, das gesamte Bodenvolumen durch gezielte Unterbodenbearbeitung für die agrarische Nutzung zu optimieren, da biszu 80 % der für Pflanzen verfügbaren Nährstoffe und Wasser im Untergrund gespeichert sind. In der dritten Phase des Projekteshat das vorliegende Teilprojekt angestrebt, diese Effekte zu quantifizieren und die Nachhaltigkeit der Unterbodenmelioration zuuntersuchen.Im Zentralfeldversuch CF3 in Thyrow wurden Elementkonzentrationen sowie 87Sr/86Sr-, δ26Mg- und δ56Fe-Werte in verschiedenenBodenschichten sowie in Roggen- und Maispflanzen untersucht. This deliverable documents the analysis of access policies of 20 European e-Infrastructures in the areas of High-Performance Computing, High-Throughput Computing,  Cloud Computing, and Data, which are open for use by European scientists. It compares and contrasts them with the requirements of European research communities with a focus on the High-Energy Physics and Radio Astronomy fields and the use cases described in Spectrum Deliverable D5.1 (Representative use cases: analysis and alignment) and provides recommendations for the future evolution of the access policies to meet the current and future needs of European researchers..

The objective of the sprint was to address two technical challenges: evaluating and optimizing the performance of PDAF software modules, and developing a strategy for porting the code to GPUs. The key results achieved during the sprint are an evaluation of the parallel efficiency of a standalone application of the ICON-Ocean model with PDAF, code analysis, and the development of a strategy for GPU offloading. The main aim of the sprint was the stepwise, model-mode based porting of the land surface model QUINCY code to GPUs, in line with the ICON OpenACC style and implementation guide. To achieve this goal, the ICON-Land Standalone Driver was first ported to GPUs, followed by running test cases where the Driver called existing GPU-implementations of JSBACH4 scientific processes.
