In this work we revisit fundamental quark-level operators that break C and CP up to and including mass dimension 8 for flavor-conserving transitions, relying on the complete operator sets of the so-called Standard Model effective field theory and the low-energy effective field theory. With the formalism of chiral perturbation theory, we match these quark operators to light-meson physics, derive C- and CP -odd Lagrangians for several processes in the η, η', and pion sectors, and furthermore, as a proof of principle, give estimates for the respective observables in explicit dependence of the underlying high-energy scale for new physics.}, cin = {IAS-4 / IKP-3}, ddc = {530}, cid = {I:(DE-Juel1)IAS-4-20090406 / I:(DE-Juel1)IKP-3-20111104}, pnm = {5111 - Domain-Specific Simulation $\&$ Data Life Cycle Labs (SDLs) and Research Groups (POF4-511)}, pid = {G:(DE-HGF)POF4-5111}, typ = {PUB:(DE-HGF)16}, UT = {WOS:001021660800002}, doi = {10.1007/JHEP06(2023)154}, url = {https://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/1008682}, }
