001019500 520__ $$aFermi gases may be confined to two dimensions by optical traps in modern experiments or by astrophysical effects and are expected to undergo the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition. While a variety of experimental and computational approaches have determined the BKT temperature as a function of the interaction, none directly probe the vortices at the heart of the BKT story.I will give an introduction to the BKT transition, Fermi gases in 2D, and our lattice-field-theoretical computational method. I will explain our approach of constructing vortex-sensitive observables and using them to detect the BKT transition.
