Abstract: Previous studies indicate that a nonlinear AC-based approach known as the total harmonic distortion (THD) can detect early signs of degradation inSOFC, which allows for applying mitigation strategies to prevent irreversible damage in an SOFC[1–4]. This study aims to explore the possibility of utilizingTHD to monitor fuel starvation in high temperature SOC during the fuel cell mode, steam and co-electrolysis of steam and CO2 for syngas production.
