Abstract: The content of the three-hour lecture covered the basics of scattering methods and colloidal interaction energies as they are relevant for the scientific work at the IBI-4 of Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH. In detail, static scattering methods in the Rayleigh-Gans-Debye approximation, dynamic light scattering, light scattering experiments with evanescent illumination and DLVO interactions between colloidal particles were discussed,
