Abstract: Open science is increasingly gaining traction throughout the world. However, much of the published work on this topic thus far has been theoretical, opinion-based, or, policy-oriented. As a result, the motivation for this presentation is the question of what published qualitative empirical research on open science can tell us about the development of this topic. Specifically, it aims to answer:  1) Which is the most used methodology for researching in open science? 2) Which type of research design did the study used? 3) Which component of open science was the focus of the research? 4) Which are the areas that have developed the most qualitative research on open science? 5) Which sampling strategy was used? 6) Which is the sample used in the study? 7) Which was the unit of analysis of the studies? 8) What are the study limitations? 9) Is research data available for these studies?
