Abstract: An important prerequisite for the safety of visitors to major events is the consideration of all traffic flows during arrival and departure processes under the given or expected framework conditions. In particular, the area of the "last mile", in which visitors arrive by various means of transport, switch to pedestrian mode and thus enter the actual event venue, is of essential interest. However, even nowadays, pedestrian and vehicle dynamics have usually been simulated and analysed independently of each other. As a result, key findings from one sub-area are often not adequately mapped in another sub-area and in this way, critical insights are lost. For this reason, Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) are coupling their simulation frameworks JuPedSim (Jülich Pedestrian Simulator) and SUMO (Simulation of Urban Mobility) to provide an integrated traffic model. Pedestrian models in SUMO interact in a modular manner with the other simulation models, making it easy to switch between different models or implement new ones. Coupling SUMO with JuPedSim allows users to utilize microscopic pedestrian models to simulate the movement of crowds, considering in particular phenomena such as arching and lane formation. The poster provides an overview of the ongoing research project CroMa-PRO and technical details on the coupling.
