Sector coupling technologies for integrated energy systems

2024

Lecture at Tu Clausthal (online, Germany), 1 Aug 2024 - 1 Aug 20242024-08-012024-08-01

Abstract: This lecture provides an in-depth look at how different energy sectors (electricity, heating, cooling, transport, and industry) can be coupled to achieve cost-effective, low-emission, and sustainable solutions. By leveraging sector coupling technologies, energy systems can be more flexible and resilient, paving the way for deeper integration of renewable resources. Students will learn the core steps in problem formulation, optimization techniques, and solutions that enable effective sector coupling, including methods for modeling, simulation, and techno-economic analysis.
