However, no successful work has been reported onmolecular single-crystal samples yet. In the present study, low-energy angle-resolved HREELS measurementswere conducted on single-crystal pentacene, an organic semiconductor. The results confirmed the excitonicbands exhibiting energy–momentum dispersion and anisotropy of these depending on the surface crystallo-graphic directions, corroborating the occurrence of exciton delocalization, contrary to the ordinary notion of theFrenkel exciton for weakly interacting van der Waals molecular solids. The present results demonstrate that low-energy angle-resolved HREELS is applicable to the precise examination of the excitonic characteristics of solid-state surfaces, even for molecular semiconductor single crystals. 001038812 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF4-5213$$a5213 - Quantum Nanoscience (POF4-521)$$cPOF4-521$$fPOF IV$$x0 001038812 536__ $$0G:(EU-Grant)101071259$$aOrbital Cinema - Photoemission Orbital Cinematography: An ultrafast wave function lab (101071259)$$c101071259$$fERC-2022-SYG$$x1 001038812 536__ $$0G:(GEPRIS)385975694$$aSFB 1083 A12 - Struktur und Anregungen von hetero-epitaktischen Schichtsystemen aus schwach wechselwirkenden 2D-Materialien und molekularen Schichten (A12) (385975694)$$c385975694$$x2 001038812 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef, Journals: juser.fz-juelich.de 001038812 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)167128$$aBocquet, François C.$$b1 001038812 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aTsuruta, Ryohei$$b2 001038812 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)128790$$aSoubatch, Serguei$$b3 001038812 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)128791$$aTautz, F.
