%X Traffic flow and pedestrian dynamics are inherently interconnected in urban environments, particularly at intersections, intermodal hubs, and railway stations. The increasing complexity of these environ-ments necessitates advanced simulation tools to accurately model interactions between vehicular traffic and pedestrian dynamics. Traditional traffic flow simulators often consider pedestrian behavior in a simplified way, neglecting any interaction in crowds itself or between pedestrians and vehicles. This leads to an inadequate representation of reality, especially in scenarios with crowded spaces that in-volve complex pedestrian dynamics. At crosswalks, for example, varying speeds and intermediate waypoints of pedestrians lead to different interactions in the crowd and thus to different levels of de-lay for vehicles, affecting the overall flow of traffic. Pedestrian dynamics are also highly relevant when boarding and alighting trains.By incorporating the Juelich Pedestrian Simulator into the SUMO traffic flow simulation, this re-search aims to improve multimodal simulations where the dynamics in crowds and their interaction with traffic are of great importance for the overall assessment. This enables the evaluation of interact-ing traffic phenomena or traffic control strategies under varying conditions. Coupling the simulators also provides a basis for model extensions at the agent-based level, so that the interaction of vehicles and pedestrians can be enhanced in the future. We demonstrate the coupling of both simulators, the required data and configuration possibilities to achieve a more accurate and holistic representation of multimodal traffic scenarios. Results highlight the potential of integrated simulation tools for designing smarter urban mobility systems that balance the needs of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic in complex, dynamic environments.
