Abstract: This chapter provides an overview of the fundamental framework of scattering theory, which is widely used in particle physics to describe and interpret interactions among elementary particles. We explore how transition amplitudes enable the analysis of data from scattering experiments and the extraction of resonance parameters. The concepts and methods discussed are essential for understanding processes studied at major accelerator facilities worldwide and in a broad range of hadronic and nuclear systems.
