Curriculum Vitae of D. Triefenbach

After an education as a chemistry laboratory assistant at the Bayer AG Dormagen he started to study chemical engineering at the "Fachhochschule Aachen" in 1970 where he received his diploma in 1978 at the department of Chemical Engineering with Prof. H. Lange. The work of his diploma thesis "Temperature dependence of acidity constants of salicylic acid in water and aqueous lithium chloride solutions" under the supervision of Dr. B.D. Struck was done at the Department of Chemistry 4 (ICH4) of the Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZ) where he had an appointment as staff member parallel to his study since 1972. After his diploma he continued working on acidity measurements by means of EMF (electro-motorical force) and the development of tungsten electrodes for hydrogen production (patent in 1982). In 1983 he changed to the Institute of Solid State Research (IFF), Department of Material Research at the FZ where he focussed his work on hydrogen, deuterium and tritium loading of metals ("Heliumtrick") and the manufacturing of super conductors and their characterization. In addition, after becoming the head of the ceramic laboratory he started to work also on the manufacturing and development of electrolytes for fuel cells (proton conductor), The Soft Matter group at the Department of Solid State Research of the FZ he joined in January 2000. Here he is responsible for the commissioning and support of a 3D light scattering set up.
