Curriculum Vitae of G. Meier

He joined the IFF on August 1st 2000 as a stuff scientist. He studied chemistry at the university of Bochum, where he finished his Diploma in 1978 with a work on solid state NMR. Then he moved to the university of Bielefeld finishing his PhD in the field of laser light scattering from bulk polymers with Prof. Th. Dorfmüller in 1982. In 1983 he took a position at the university of Mainz in the group of Prof. E.W.Fischer working in polymer physics. In 1987 he was appointed to a group leader position in the Max-Planck-Institut für Polymerforschung (MPI) in Mainz again with Prof. Fischer dealing with laser light scattering, inelastic neutron scattering and dielectric relaxation on glass forming systems. In 1989 he moved to the KFA Jülich as a beam line scientist for the small angle neutron scattering machine KWS-2, financed by the BMBF, in cooperation with the FZ-Jülich and the MPI in Mainz.

Research Interests of G. Meier

His current research focuses on the collective dynamics of mixtures and colloids mainly with light scattering methods (photon correlation spectroscopy, tandem interferomertry, Raman scattering). The molecular dynamics is investigated via neutron scattering and dielectric relaxation. Especially the interplay between critical phenomena and external fields (structural arrest via interplay with glass transition, external hydrostatic pressure) is of interest.
