Curriculum Vitae of P. Lettinga

Dr. Minne Paul (Pavlik) Lettinga joined the IFF in July 2000 as a post-doc. He studied experimental physics at the University of Utrecht. He worked for his masters in the Molecular Biophysics department with Prof. Y. K. Levine, where he characterized the transition dipole moments of Chlorophyll a and Pheophytin a. During his masters he spend four months at the department of Physical and Inorganic Chemistry of the University of Bologna under supervision of prof. C. Zannoni. After he received his masters he worked as an researcher at the department of Physical Chemistry of the University of Padova with Prof. P.-L Nordio, on the twisted intra-molecular charge transfer in dimethylaminobenzonitrile. In 1994 he returned to Molecular Biophysics in Utrecht to start his PhD, in collaboration with Prof. A. P. Philipse from the van 't Hoff Laboratory for Physical and Colloid Chemistry at the same university. He received his doctoral degree with a thesis on "Phosphorescence spectroscopy and its application to the study of colloidal dynamics". This work concerned the characterization of phosphorescence dye molecules in polymer-like surroundings and the use of colloidal particles labeld with phosphorescence dye molecules for the study of rotational diffusion of spherical colloidal particles. During a half year post-doctoral period at the van 't Hoff Laboratory he build a new TPA set-up, which can also be used for rotational fluorescence recovery after photo bleaching.

Research Interests of P. Lettinga

The present interest of Lettinga concerns the critical behavior of colloidal dispersions under shear stress and the rotational diffusion of colloidal particles in confined matter.
