Curriculum Vitae of W. Sager

Wiebke Sager who joined the group in April 2001 studied Chemistry at Christian- Albrechts-University in Kiel (Germany) and the University of Basel (Switzerland), where she graduated with a diploma degree in 1987. Continuing joining the group of Prof. H.-F. Eicke at the Institute of Physical Chemistry she received her Ph. D. in 1992 for a thesis on the "Characterisation of emulsions as precipitation media for colloidal ceramic particles".

As a post-doctoral associate she worked at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, University of Basel, on the characterization of colloidal oxide particles precipitated in emulsions using x-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy and in the group of Prof. M. Kahlweit at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen (Germany), investigating the influence of impurities on the phase behaviour of AOT microemulsions. Granted by a fellowship of the Swiss National Science Foundation /Royal Society, she started a study on the characterization of semifluorinated compounds at hydrocarbon/fluorocarbon interfaces in the Surfactant Science Group at the University of Hull (Prof. P.D.I. Fletcher/B.P. Binks). From 1994 she worked for 3 years on joined project on aggregation phenomena and the phase behaviour of water-in-oil microemulsions at the University of Leiden (The Netherlands) in collaboration with E.M. Blokhuis, G.J.M. Koper and Prof. D. Bedeaux. In 1997 she moved to the University of Twente (The Netherlands), where she set up a 4 years project on the preparation and characterisation of nanocrystalline ceramic coatings in the Inorganic Materials group of Prof. H. Verweij.

In 1998 she become assistant professor in the Membrane Technology group of the University of Twente, where she worked until March 2001 on fundamental materials aspects of membrane science. In 1999 she got awarded within the program of the Netherlands Science Foundation for Young Chemists with a 4 years Ph. D. project on "Precipitaion of nanostructured materials in selforganising systems". Her research interests lie in the field of selforganising systems and nanostructured materials.
