Abstract: Many user groups trying to bring their applications into the cloud choose VM images as the "packaging format". Depending on the structure of the application and the intended use cases that are to be run on cloud resources, there may be alternative ways of packaging the application, thus keeping images small and avoiding problems that may arise from the need to update individual assets within images. This will ultimately lead to optimizations in application delivery and startup, presenting a better experience to the user.
