%< Intel European Exascale Labs - Report 2013
%X Supercomputing at scale has become the decisive challenge for users, providers and vendors of leading supercomputer systems. On next-generation systems, approaching Exascale by the end of the decade, we will be confronted with millions of cores, and the need of massive parallelism.Besides aggregating ever larger compute performance, the ability to hold and efficiently process dramatically increased amounts of data will be the key to enable future leading research facilities for computational science. We report in this articles on the evolving supercomputing infrastructure at Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC), on the Simulation Labs that link HPC platform research with science areas which will require Exascale supercomputing in the future, and give an overview of highly scalable external and in-house applications running on the HPC systems at JSC.
