abstract = {A machine independent parallel version of CONDAT-DYNA3D, a
finite element program for nonlinear structural dynamics, is
presented. The parallel version, which contains all
important features including the contact module, is based on
a domain decomposition method and applies message passing
techniques. The domain decomposition uses the Multilevel
Recursive Spectral Bisection method (MRSB) that achieves a
high-quality decomposition at low computational costs. The
crash simulation of an aluminium honeycomb structure
involving more than 60,000 shell elements achieves a speedup
of 110 on 138 processors of an Intel Paragon and of 1.9 on a
cluster of two HP workstations.},
