COSY is a synchrotron ring in the momentum range from 295 to 3700 MeV/c. Polarized deuterons and protons are routinely delivered to exp eriments over the whole momentum range. No depolarization occurs during the acceleration of deuterons in COSY. For polarized protons many depolarizing resonances are crossed without polarization loss. At imperfection resonances, vertical steerer magnets a re used to increase the resonance strength, leading to a complete polarization reversal. At intrinsic resonances a fast tune jump quadrupole is used to quickly cross the resonances without loss of polarization. Typical proton polarizations are close to 0. 8 below 2.1 GeV/c and about 0.6 for higher momenta. During recent operation an induced depolarizing resonance was used for accurate determination of the relative momentum spread dp/p of the stored beam yielding an accuracy of better than 10(-')(4). For sp in filter studies of the PAX collaboration a low beta target section was installed in 2009 and was successfully put into operation early 2010. An upgrade of the EDDA polarimeter electronics and data acquisition system is underway to ensure continued avail ability of the polarimeter, which is essential for the polarized proton operation of COSY. In the near future it is planned to install a Siberian snake solenoid of 4.5 Tm to be able to provide in addition to vertically polarized protons, longitudinal pola rization as well. This solenoid will allow the preparation of a longitudinally polarized beam up to a kinetic energy of 500 MeV. 000018877 536__ $$0G:(DE-Juel1)FUEK415$$2G:(DE-HGF)$$aGroßgeräte für die Forschung mit Photonen, Neutronen und Ionen (PNI)$$cP55$$x0 000018877 536__ $$0G:(DE-Juel1)FUEK413$$2G:(DE-HGF)$$aPhysik der Hadronen und Kerne (FUEK413)$$cFUEK413$$x1 000018877 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)VDB5067$$aGebel, R.$$b1$$uFZJ 000018877 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)131234$$aLehrach, A.$$b2$$uFZJ 000018877 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)131248$$aMaier, R.$$b3$$uFZJ 000018877 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)VDB1283$$aPrasuhn, D.$$b4$$uFZJ 000018877 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)VDB5270$$aStockhorst, H.$$b5$$uFZJ 000018877 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)2166409-2$$a10.1088/1742-6596/295/1/012146$$gVol. 295$$q295$$tJournal of physics / Conference Series$$v295$$x1742-6588$$y2011 000018877 8567_ $$uhttp://dx.doi.org/10.1088/1742-6596/295/1/012146 000018877 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/18877/files/Lorentz_2011_J._Phys.%20_Conf._Ser._295_012146.pdf$$yOpenAccess 000018877 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/18877/files/Lorentz_2011_J._Phys.%20_Conf._Ser._295_012146.pdf?subformat=pdfa$$xpdfa$$yOpenAccess 000018877 909CO $$ooai:juser.fz-juelich.de:18877$$popenaire$$popen_access$$pVDB$$pdriver$$pdnbdelivery 000018877 9141_ $$y2011 000018877 915__ $$0LIC:(DE-HGF)CCBY3$$2HGFVOC$$aCreative Commons Attribution CC BY 3.0 000018877 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0020$$aNo peer review 000018877 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0010$$aJCR/ISI refereed 000018877 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0510$$2StatID$$aOpenAccess 000018877 9131_ $$0G:(DE-Juel1)FUEK415$$bStruktur der Materie$$kP55$$lGroßgeräteforschung mit Photonen, Neutronen und Ionen$$vGroßgeräte für die Forschung mit Photonen, Neutronen und Ionen (PNI)$$x0 000018877 9131_ $$0G:(DE-Juel1)FUEK413$$1G:(DE-Juel1)FUEP413$$aDE-HGF$$lPhysik der Hadronen und Kerne$$vPhysik der Hadronen und Kerne$$x1 000018877 9132_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-631$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-630$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-600$$aDE-HGF$$bForschungsbereich Materie$$lMaterie und Technologie$$vAccelerator R & D$$x0 000018877 9132_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-623$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-620$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-600$$aDE-HGF$$bForschungsbereich Materie$$lIn-house research on the structure, dynamics and function of matter$$vNeutrons for Research on Condensed Matter$$x1 000018877 9201_ $$0I:(DE-Juel1)IKP-4-20111104$$gIKP$$kIKP-4$$lKernphysikalische Großgeräte$$x0 000018877 970__ $$aVDB:(DE-Juel1)133582 000018877 980__ $$aVDB 000018877 980__ $$aConvertedRecord 000018877 980__ $$ajournal 000018877 980__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)IKP-4-20111104 000018877 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED 000018877 9801_ $$aFullTexts
