%Z It is a pleasure to thank S. Drozdz, V. Klemt, J. Meyer-ter-Vehn, K. Nakayama, P. Ring, G. Tertychny dagger, J. Wambach, and D. Zawischa for the collaboration in developing and extending the Landau-Migdal theory in the past, A. Avdeenkov, S. Kamerdziev, N. Lyutorovich, and V. Tselyaev for their collaboration up to present. We thank the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft for the grants DFG: 436 RUS 113/994/0-1 and DFG: 436 RUS 113/806/0-1. J.S. thanks the Foundation for Polish Science for financial support through the Alexander von Humboldt Honorary Research Fellowship.
%X We review the application of Migdal's Theory of Finite Fermi Systems to the structure of deformed nuclei, approaches beyond the conventional linear response, and microscopic calculations of the Migdal-parameters.
