TY - CONF AU - Lintermann, Andreas TI - Recent CFD Research in the SimLab FSE M1 - FZJ-2015-04754 PY - 2015 AB - This talk introduces the SimLab concept of the Jülich Supercomputing Center (JSC) and the Jülich Aachen Research Alliance, High Performance Computing (JARA-HPC) and summarizes recent research activities of the SimLab “Highly Scalable Fluids & Solids Engineering” (SLFSE). In more detail, the results of CFD simulations in the field of human respiration, i.e., for the simulation of the flow in the human nasal cavity and particle depositions in the human lung using a Lattice-Boltzmann and a coupled Lagrange particle solver is presented. Furthermore, recent advances in the simulation of aircraft noise are given. Finally, prospective research topics and their challenges, i.e., the efficient simulation of respiratory sleep disorders and shape optimizations of shevrons for noise reduction of aircraft engines are discussed.
