Average profiles corresponding, respectively, to the highest and the lowest ozone mixing ratios for the 0–1.5 km layer over Cairo in summer (JJA) (94 profiles) are examined along with their corresponding composite maps of geopotential height (and anomalies), vertical velocity (and anomalies), specific humidity anomalies, precipitable water anomalies, air temperature anomalies and wind speed at 850 hPa. In addition, backward trajectories arriving in the boundary layer over Cairo during the days with highest or lowest ozone mixing ratios are examined. During the 7% highest ozone days at the 0–1500 m layer over Cairo, very high ozone concentrations of about 80 ppb on average are observed from the surface up to 4–5 km altitude. The difference in ozone concentrations between the 7% highest and the 7% lowest ozone days reaches maximum values around 60 ppb close to the ground. During the highest ozone days for both 1.5–5 and 0–1.5 km layer, there are extended regions of strong subsidence in the eastern Mediterranean but also in eastern and northern Europe and over these regions the atmosphere is dryer than average. In addition, characteristic profiles with the highest ozone concentrations in the 0–1500 m layer are examined in order to assess the influence of atmospheric transport and photochemistry on the ozone concentrations over the area. 000276193 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-243$$a243 - Tropospheric trace substances and their transformation processes (POF3-243)$$cPOF3-243$$fPOF III$$x0 000276193 536__ $$0G:(DE-82)BMBF-20180331-IAGOSD$$aIAGOS-D - In-Service Aircraft for a Global Observing System – German Contribution to the Main Phase of IAGOS (BMBF-20180331-IAGOSD)$$cBMBF-20180331-IAGOSD$$x1 000276193 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef 000276193 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aThouret, Valerie$$b1 000276193 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aCammas, Jean-Pierre$$b2 000276193 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)6742$$aVolz-Thomas, Andreas$$b3$$ufzj 000276193 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aBoulanger, Damien$$b4 000276193 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aRepapis, Christos C.$$b5 000276193 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)2026992-4$$a10.3402/tellusb.v67.27853$$gVol. 67, no. 0$$n0$$p27853, 1-24$$tTellus / B$$v67$$x1600-0889$$y2015 000276193 8564_ $$uhttp://www.tellusb.net/index.php/tellusb/article/view/27853 000276193 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/276193/files/27853-172547-2-PB.pdf$$yOpenAccess 000276193 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/276193/files/27853-172547-2-PB.gif?subformat=icon$$xicon$$yOpenAccess 000276193 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/276193/files/27853-172547-2-PB.jpg?subformat=icon-1440$$xicon-1440$$yOpenAccess 000276193 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/276193/files/27853-172547-2-PB.jpg?subformat=icon-180$$xicon-180$$yOpenAccess 000276193 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/276193/files/27853-172547-2-PB.jpg?subformat=icon-640$$xicon-640$$yOpenAccess 000276193 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/276193/files/27853-172547-2-PB.pdf?subformat=pdfa$$xpdfa$$yOpenAccess 000276193 909CO $$ooai:juser.fz-juelich.de:276193$$pdnbdelivery$$pVDB$$pVDB:Earth_Environment$$pdriver$$popen_access$$popenaire$$qec_fundedresources 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0200$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSCOPUS 000276193 915__ $$0LIC:(DE-HGF)CCBY4$$2HGFVOC$$aCreative Commons Attribution CC BY 4.0 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0100$$2StatID$$aJCR$$bTELLUS B : 2014 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0500$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bDOAJ 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0110$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0111$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index Expanded 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bWeb of Science Core Collection 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)9900$$2StatID$$aIF < 5 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0510$$2StatID$$aOpenAccess 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1050$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bBIOSIS Previews 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0300$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bMedline 000276193 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0199$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bThomson Reuters Master Journal List 000276193 9141_ $$y2015 000276193 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)6742$$aForschungszentrum Jülich GmbH$$b3$$kFZJ 000276193 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-243$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-240$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-200$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bErde und Umwelt$$lAtmosphäre und Klima$$vTropospheric trace substances and their transformation processes$$x0 000276193 920__ $$lyes 000276193 9201_ $$0I:(DE-Juel1)IEK-8-20101013$$kIEK-8$$lTroposphäre$$x0 000276193 9801_ $$aFullTexts 000276193 980__ $$ajournal 000276193 980__ $$aVDB 000276193 980__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)IEK-8-20101013 000276193 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED 000276193 981__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)ICE-3-20101013
