The suspensions of fd-virus particles are used as a model system for charged col- loidal rods, which exhibit several disorder-order (and liquid-crystalline) phase transitions. When a low AC electric field is applied to suspensions in isotropic-nematic coexistence concentration, with frequencies that are sufficiently low to polarize the electric double layer and the layer of condensed ions, various phases/states are induced: a chiral nematic, a dynamical state where ne- matic domains persistently melt and form, and a uniform homeotropic phase. A point in the field-amplitude versus frequency diagram, where various transitions lines meet, can be identified as a non-equilibrium critical point. Without an electric field, at high concentrations of charged fd-rods, various self-assembled orientation textures are found beyond the isotropic-nematic coex- istence regions, and a glass transition is observed on approach and within the glass state that are probed. The presented system exhibits transient behaviors of repulsive glasses and slow dynamics out of equilibrium. 000280392 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-551$$a551 - Functional Macromolecules and Complexes (POF3-551)$$cPOF3-551$$fPOF III$$x0 000280392 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef 000280392 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)2645096-3$$a10.4236/aces.2015.51003$$gVol. 05, no. 01, p. 23 - 32$$n01$$p23 - 32$$tAdvances in Chemical Engineering and Science$$v05$$x2160-0406$$y2015 000280392 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/280392/files/ACES_2015010717134802.pdf$$yOpenAccess 000280392 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/280392/files/ACES_2015010717134802.gif?subformat=icon$$xicon$$yOpenAccess 000280392 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/280392/files/ACES_2015010717134802.jpg?subformat=icon-1440$$xicon-1440$$yOpenAccess 000280392 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/280392/files/ACES_2015010717134802.jpg?subformat=icon-180$$xicon-180$$yOpenAccess 000280392 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/280392/files/ACES_2015010717134802.jpg?subformat=icon-640$$xicon-640$$yOpenAccess 000280392 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/280392/files/ACES_2015010717134802.pdf?subformat=pdfa$$xpdfa$$yOpenAccess 000280392 909CO $$ooai:juser.fz-juelich.de:280392$$pdnbdelivery$$pVDB$$pdriver$$popen_access$$popenaire 000280392 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)130749$$aForschungszentrum Jülich GmbH$$b0$$kFZJ 000280392 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-551$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-550$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-500$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bKey Technologies$$lBioSoft – Fundamentals for future Technologies in the fields of Soft Matter and Life Sciences$$vFunctional Macromolecules and Complexes$$x0 000280392 9141_ $$y2015 000280392 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0510$$2StatID$$aOpenAccess 000280392 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0500$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bDOAJ 000280392 915__ $$0LIC:(DE-HGF)CCBY4$$2HGFVOC$$aCreative Commons Attribution CC BY 4.0 000280392 920__ $$lyes 000280392 9201_ $$0I:(DE-Juel1)ICS-3-20110106$$kICS-3$$lWeiche Materie $$x0 000280392 9801_ $$aUNRESTRICTED 000280392 9801_ $$aFullTexts 000280392 980__ $$ajournal 000280392 980__ $$aVDB 000280392 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED 000280392 980__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)ICS-3-20110106
