%X In this work, a highly scalable numerical method is presented that allows to compute the aerodynamic sound from the flow field for large-scale problems. The acoustic perturbation equations are solved by a high-order discontinuous Galerkin method and by using the acoustic source terms obtained from an approximate solution of the Navier-Stokes equations. Both solvers operate on the same hierarchical Cartesian grid. This direct-hybrid method is validated by monopole and pressure pulse simulations and is used to compute the aeroacoustics of a turbulent mixing layer. The results indicate that the new method is capable of efficiently predicting the acoustic field and show that it is suitable for highly parallel simulations.
