The acoustic perturbation equations are solved by a high-order discontinuous Galerkin method and by using the acoustic source terms obtained from an approximate solution of the Navier-Stokes equations. Both solvers operate on the same hierarchical Cartesian grid. This direct-hybrid method is validated by monopole and pressure pulse simulations and is used to compute the aeroacoustics of a turbulent mixing layer.
