Water/DMF mixtures with different compositions were used as the solvent. The "grafting-from" approach was used in order to prepare suitable pullulan and dextran ATRP macroinitiators with a well controlled degree of functionalization. Methacrylate and acrylamide monomers were grafted obtaining good control over the number, molecular weight and polydispersity of the grafted chains without homopolymer formation and polysaccharide degradation. The versatility of this method allowed us to prepare comblike derivatives with a wide range of properties (amphiphilic, ionic, and thermoresponsive) by simply changing the solvent composition and the catalyst. This could make possible the synthesis of new interesting biomaterials starting from a wide range of polysaccharides. 000056804 536__ $$0G:(DE-Juel1)FUEK414$$2G:(DE-HGF)$$aKondensierte Materie$$cP54$$x0 000056804 536__ $$0G:(DE-Juel1)FUEK415$$aGroßgeräte für die Forschung mit Photonen, Neutronen und Ionen (PNI)$$cP55$$x1 000056804 588__ $$aDataset connected to Web of Science, Pubmed 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aCarbohydrate Conformation 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aFree Radicals: chemistry 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aHydrolysis 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aKinetics 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aMagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aModels, Chemical 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aPolysaccharides: chemical synthesis 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aPolysaccharides: chemistry 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aSpectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared 000056804 650_2 $$2MeSH$$aTemperature 000056804 650_7 $$00$$2NLM Chemicals$$aFree Radicals 000056804 650_7 $$00$$2NLM Chemicals$$aPolysaccharides 000056804 650_7 $$2WoSType$$aJ 000056804 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aWaigh, T.
