AB - Single electron transistors with two ferromagnetic electrodes in the antiferromagnetic alignment and a superconducting island can induce spin polarization in the superconductor. The effect of spin polarization on the superconducting properties is studied theoretically. Spin injection is an interesting alternative to high magnetic fields to induce large spin polarization in a superconductor. Since this method is not restricted to extremely thin superconductors, it provides a mean to verify exotic states in s superconductors, such as the Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state. The combination of spin injection and nanosized islands promises an approach to investigate superconductors with high spin polarization.
