Field measurements were carried out at the meteorological monitoring station `Hartheimer Wald' located in the vicinity of Freiburg (upper Rhine valley), Germany, within a pine plantation dominated by Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). The measured BVOC emission rates were used to determine the daily and seasonal variation of BVOC emission and its dependence on important meteorological and plant physiological parameters. In parallel, laboratory experiments using young trees of pine (P. sylvestris), poplar (Populus tremula xP. alba) and pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) were performed, and the influence of abiotic (e.g., light, temperature, seasonality, flooding) factors on the biosynthesis and emission of BVOC was quantified. Based on these data, emission algorithms were evaluated and a process-oriented numerical model for the simulation of the isoprene emission by plants was developed. In addition, newly calculated land use and tree species distributions were used for the calculation of an actual BVOC emission inventory of Germany. 000061861 536__ $$0G:(DE-Juel1)FUEK257$$2G:(DE-HGF)$$aChemie und Dynamik der Geo-Biosphäre$$cU01$$x0 000061861 588__ $$aDataset connected to Web of Science 000061861 650_7 $$2WoSType$$aJ 000061861 65320 $$2Author$$abiogenic volatile organic compounds 000061861 65320 $$2Author$$aBVOC 000061861 65320 $$2Author$$amodels 000061861 65320 $$2Author$$aemission inventory of Germany 000061861 65320 $$2Author$$aisoprene 000061861 65320 $$2Author$$amonoterpene 000061861 65320 $$2Author$$aacetaldehyde 000061861 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aBauknecht, N.$$b1 000061861 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aBrüggemann, N.$$b2 000061861 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aEinig, W.$$b3 000061861 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aForkel, R.$$b4 000061861 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aHampp, R.$$b5 000061861 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)VDB578$$aHeiden, A.
