Update on the solid state quantum computer

2016

Universität Mainz Kollqouium, MainzMainz, Germany,

Abstract: I will begin with a quick personal review of the steady progress that has brought us to our present state in superconductor and semiconductor quantum processors. Progress towards a large system seems perfectly possible, but it will require looking outside the functioning of the qubits themselves, to address myriad potential problems of making the whole system function together. I will discuss two recent themes of my work, first in the area of detailed electromagnetic modeling of qubit-cavity systems, and next in the area of potential improvements to the microwave circulator, a ubiquitous component needed in signal-handling in the quantum computer.
