abstract = {We preformed total internal reflection microscopy (TIRM)
experiments to determine the depletion potentials between
probe spheres and a flat glass wall, which are induced by
rod shaped fd-virus. In addition to the measurement of
static potentials, we extracted dynamic information from the
same raw data in three different ways, i. e. by determining
the spatially averaged diffusion constant of the probe
sphere normal to the wall, by measuring the position
dependence of the diffusion coefficient and by measuring the
position dependence of the particle's drift velocity. We
find that the dependence of the depletion potential
amplitude and the spatially averaged diffusion constant show
an intriguingly similar dependence on the rod concentration,
which indicates that the observed deviation of the static
results from the classical Asakura--Oosawa description may
be caused by a retarded relaxation of the rod network. Upon
analyzing the spatially resolved dynamics we further
observe, that local particle drift velocities can be
measured much more reliably than local diffusion
                      coefficients.},
