This behaviour is influenced by many factors, e.g. by the implementation inside the application, the file system, the network and data hardware and software, as well as, since storage is usually a shared resource, other jobs running on the same cluster. Within EoCoE an I/O benchmarking activity was established to investigate how certain I/O patterns can influence the overall performance and how this behaviour can be reflected within the real world HPC applications to optimize the general I/O bandwidth. The talk will present the benchmarking methodology, common parallel I/O pitfalls, and it should guide HPC application developers in the context of parallel I/O problems. 000858866 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-511$$a511 - Computational Science and Mathematical Methods (POF3-511)$$cPOF3-511$$fPOF III$$x0 000858866 536__ $$0G:(EU-Grant)676629$$aEoCoE - Energy oriented Centre of Excellence for computer applications (676629)$$c676629$$fH2020-EINFRA-2015-1$$x1 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aAmbrosino, F.$$b1$$eContributor 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aBrzezniak, M.$$b2$$eContributor 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)132108$$aFrings, Wolfgang$$b3$$eContributor$$ufzj 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aFunel, A.$$b4$$eContributor 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aGuarnieri, G.$$b5$$eContributor 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aHaefele, M.$$b6$$eContributor 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aIannone, F.$$b7$$eContributor 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aPaluszkiewicz, T.$$b8$$eContributor 000858866 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aSierocinski, K.$$b9$$eContributor 000858866 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/858866/files/EoCoE_IO_Benchmarking_2018_09.pdf$$yOpenAccess 000858866 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/858866/files/EoCoE_IO_Benchmarking_2018_09.pdf?subformat=pdfa$$xpdfa$$yOpenAccess 000858866 909CO $$ooai:juser.fz-juelich.de:858866$$pec_fundedresources$$pdriver$$pVDB$$popen_access$$popenaire 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)7757$$aForschungszentrum Jülich$$b0$$kFZJ 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$a ENEA$$b1 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$a PSNC$$b2 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)132108$$aForschungszentrum Jülich$$b3$$kFZJ 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$a ENEA$$b4 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$a ENEA$$b5 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$a CEA$$b6 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$a ENEA$$b7 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$a PSNC$$b8 000858866 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-HGF)0$$a PSNC$$b9 000858866 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-511$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-510$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-500$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bKey Technologies$$lSupercomputing & Big Data$$vComputational Science and Mathematical Methods$$x0 000858866 9141_ $$y2018 000858866 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0510$$2StatID$$aOpenAccess 000858866 920__ $$lyes 000858866 9201_ $$0I:(DE-Juel1)JSC-20090406$$kJSC$$lJülich Supercomputing Center$$x0 000858866 980__ $$aconf 000858866 980__ $$aVDB 000858866 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED 000858866 980__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)JSC-20090406 000858866 9801_ $$aFullTexts
