Abstract: The International Soil Modeling Consortium (ISMC) was established in 2016 with the aim to integrate and advance soil systems modeling, data collection, and observational capabilities. The underlying principles and scientific basis were outlined in a recent white paper on “Modeling soil processes: review, challenges and new perspectives” published in Vadose Zone Journal in 2016. Its activities are organized in three science panels: data and observation model linking, soil modeling development and intercomparison and cross cutting activities. ISMC has an executive board and a scientific advisory that guides ISMC in pursuing its objectives. ISMC is a community effort based on voluntary contributions and people can sign up freely (https://soil-modeling.org/). In this presentation, we will highlight the most recent developments and activities that are currently ongoing as well as future projects that are under preparation.
