First, we introduce the main physical quantities characterizing the properties of a homogeneous crowd. A brief summary of some important empirical findings is given. Finally, we discuss the properties of microscopic pedestrian models. Different classifications of the models are proposed. We emphasize the relevance of empirical results and show how they can be used for validation and calibration. 000860643 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-511$$a511 - Computational Science and Mathematical Methods (POF3-511)$$cPOF3-511$$fPOF III$$x0 000860643 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef Book Series 000860643 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)132077$$aChraibi, Mohcine$$b1 000860643 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)132266$$aSeyfried, Armin$$b2 000860643 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)159135$$aTordeux, Antoine$$b3 000860643 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)156196$$aZhang, Jun$$b4 000860643 773__ $$a10.1007/978-3-030-05129-7_4 000860643 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/860643/files/Schadschneider2018_Chapter_PedestrianDynamicsFromEmpirica.pdf$$yRestricted 000860643 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/860643/files/Schadschneider2018_Chapter_PedestrianDynamicsFromEmpirica.pdf?subformat=pdfa$$xpdfa$$yRestricted 000860643 909CO $$ooai:juser.fz-juelich.de:860643$$pVDB 000860643 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)132077$$aForschungszentrum Jülich$$b1$$kFZJ 000860643 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)132266$$aForschungszentrum Jülich$$b2$$kFZJ 000860643 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-Juel1)159135$$aExternal Institute$$b3$$kExtern 000860643 9101_ $$0I:(DE-HGF)0$$6P:(DE-Juel1)156196$$aExternal Institute$$b4$$kExtern 000860643 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-511$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-510$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-500$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bKey Technologies$$lSupercomputing & Big Data$$vComputational Science and Mathematical Methods$$x0 000860643 9141_ $$y2019 000860643 920__ $$lyes 000860643 9201_ $$0I:(DE-Juel1)IAS-7-20180321$$kIAS-7$$lZivile Sicherheitsforschung$$x0 000860643 980__ $$acontb 000860643 980__ $$aVDB 000860643 980__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)IAS-7-20180321 000860643 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED
