520 _ _ |a The following article deals with the development process of a new direction for the profession “data librarian” in Germany, an occupation which is already widely settled in the Anglo-American library and information world. With the help of a structured process the TH Köln developed a degree programme via a multi-level procedure by involving all stakeholders. The degree programme ought to put graduates in a position to manage highly IT-related challenges in libraries. The corresponding course contents and structure of the developed degree programme will be illustrated in detail.
