      abstract     = {Silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) are solid-state
                      photodetectors based on Geiger mode avalanche diode
                      technology. The features of SiPMs such as low operating
                      voltages, insusceptibility to magnetic field and low
                      production costs make it a very appealing candidate for
                      single photon detection applications. In the recent past its
                      applicability in neutron detection had been assessed and
                      proved feasible. Motivated by this investigation, a new kind
                      of scintillation neutron detector based on digital SiPMs is
                      under development. This detector prototype with an active
                      area of 13 cm × 13 cm, is assembled with SiPM modules from
                      Philips Digital Photon Counting and a 6Li glass
                      scintillator. It is aimed to be used in the future for
                      neutron reflectometry (NR) at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz
                      Zentrum (MLZ) in Garching, Germany for the TREFF instrument.
                      In order to achieve the goal of two dimensional spatial
                      resolution of 1 mm × 1 mm, and a neutron counting rate of
                      20 Mcps/m², non-linearity characterization of the SiPM has
                      been performed. This work presents the simulation results
                      performed using Geant4 tool-kit for the SiPM proportionality
