520 _ _ |a The past 15 years have witnessed unprecedented advances in the acquisition of brain imaging and genomics data. Brain imaging genomics is a rapidly evolving research field that combines data obtained through: (1) analyses of genetic variation, such as single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), copy number variations (CNVs), and epigenetic information; and (2) different brain imaging methods, usually magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The major aim is to provide insights into the genetic architecture of biological pathways that influence normal and disturbed brain structure and function. This information may facilitate understanding of the functioning of the human brain. For brain disorders such as neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders, this knowledge may improve diagnostic and prognostic assessments and help to identify molecules that can be targeted by novel therapies.
