Ceramic materials and components for the hydrogen economy

2021

Seminar, GrenobleGrenoble, France, 22 Jul 20212021-07-22

Abstract: Hydrogen is a versatile energy carrier enabling the storage of renewable energies and the coupling between energy, transport, heating and industry sectors leading to a deep decarbonization of human activities.Due to their tailored properties (ionic and electronic conductivity, chemical and thermal stability to name only a few), ceramic materials play a key role in electrochemical conversion devices.Electrochemical cells (solid oxide fuel cells and electrolyzers) but also catalytical membrane reactors based on proton conductors offer high potential for highly-efficient technologies.Recent progress related to materials development and cell integration will be presented.
