Abstract: A limb sounding instrument using a Heterodyne Interferometer (SHI) for temperature measurements on board a CubeSat-sized satellite is presented, which measures the rotational structure of the oxygen atmospheric band. This data is used to derive temperatures in the upper mesosphere and lower thermosphere. INSPIRESat-4 is a micro-satellite in an equatorial orbit, which is built within the International Satellite Program in Research and Education. In this presentation we introduce the instrument design, essential aspects of the instrument characterization, and first results from an in-orbit demonstration.
