To cope with viral challenges, bacteria have evolved a diversifiedarsenal of defense systems. However, this repertoire is known to rely predominantly on protein orRNA effectors. On the other hand, bacteria produce an extraordinary diversity of secondarymetabolites, whose physiological function is often unknown.
