%Z Hackathon during the 18th Vision for Action Workshop in Carry-le-Rouet, France.
%X An experiment such as Vision4Action is associated with a large amount of background information (e.g., setup, subjects, experimental procedures), literature, and results that are typically shared among collaborators in cloud folders. An integrative solution/knowledge base is desired: not only it would ease communication among peers but it would also allow new members of the collaboration to get up to speed with the project quickly. In this hackathon, we discussed potential tools to create such a knowledge base. Relevant questions/issues to be addressed include: Who is working on what? Where can one find which plots? Which repositories with which code do exist? Which talks have been given on what? We focused the session on Obsidian (https://obsidian.md), a knowledge base manager that uses Markdown files. We worked on an existing prototype, to gain an understanding of the strengths and limitations of the tool. Finally, we discussed the next steps needed to implement an Obsidian knowledge base in the context of the Vision4Action collaboration.
