In this work we revisit fundamental quark-level operators that break $C$ and $CP$ up to and including mass dimension 8 for flavor-conserving transitions, relying on the complete operator sets of the so-called Standard Model effective field theory and the low-energy effective field theory. With the formalism of chiral perturbation theory, we match these quark operators to light-meson physics, derive $C$- and $CP$-odd Lagrangians for several processes in the $η$, $η'$, and pion sectors, and furthermore, as a proof of principle, give estimates for the respective observables in explicit dependence of the underlying high-energy scale for new physics.}, keywords = {High Energy Physics - Phenomenology (hep-ph) (Other) / Nuclear Theory (nucl-th) (Other) / FOS: Physical sciences (Other)}, cin = {IAS-4 / IKP-3}, cid = {I:(DE-Juel1)IAS-4-20090406 / I:(DE-Juel1)IKP-3-20111104}, pnm = {5111 - Domain-Specific Simulation $\&$ Data Life Cycle Labs (SDLs) and Research Groups (POF4-511)}, pid = {G:(DE-HGF)POF4-5111}, typ = {PUB:(DE-HGF)25}, doi = {10.48550/ARXIV.2212.07794}, url = {https://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/916232}, }
