Therefore, the search of physics beyond the SM is required and one way to achieve it is to strive for the highest precision in the search for electric dipole moments (EDMs). Permanent EDMs of particles violate both time reversal and parity invariance and, via the CPT theorem, also the combined CP symmetry. Finding an EDM would be a strong indicator for physics beyond the SM.Storage rings offer possibility to measure EDMs of charged particles by observing the influence of the EDM on the spin motion in the ring. The Cooler Synchrotron COSY at the Forschungszentrum Juelich provides polarized protons and deuterons with momenta up to 3.7 GeV/s, making it an ideal testing ground and starting point for the JEDI collaboration (Juelich Electric Dipole moment Investigations) for such an experimental program. The talk will present the JEDI program for the measurement of proton and deuteron EDMs and discuss recent results of the first direct (precursor) measurements of the deuteron EDM in COSY. 000943229 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF4-612$$a612 - Cosmic Matter in the Laboratory (POF4-612)$$cPOF4-612$$fPOF IV$$x0 000943229 536__ $$0G:(EU-Grant)694340$$asrEDM - Search for electric dipole moments using storage rings (694340)$$c694340$$fERC-2015-AdG$$x1 000943229 693__ $$0EXP:(DE-Juel1)JEDI-20170712$$5EXP:(DE-Juel1)JEDI-20170712$$eJülich Electric Dipole moment Investigations$$x0 000943229 909CO $$ooai:juser.fz-juelich.de:943229$$pec_fundedresources$$pVDB$$popenaire 000943229 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)176609$$aForschungszentrum Jülich$$b0$$kFZJ 000943229 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF4-612$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF4-610$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF4-600$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF4$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bForschungsbereich Materie$$lMatter and the Universe$$vCosmic Matter in the Laboratory$$x0 000943229 9141_ $$y2022 000943229 920__ $$lyes 000943229 9201_ $$0I:(DE-Juel1)IKP-2-20111104$$kIKP-2$$lExperimentelle Hadrondynamik$$x0 000943229 980__ $$aconf 000943229 980__ $$aVDB 000943229 980__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)IKP-2-20111104 000943229 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED
