This thesis examines proton-induced radiation damage and sustainability of vanadium and copper-based target materials for High Current Accelerator-driven Neutron Source (HiCANS) applications, especially in the context of the High-Brilliance neutron Source (HBS) project at Forschungszentrum Jülich.
