Abstract: Climate change is among the most critical challenges confronting society today, primarily driven by the enormous amount of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, with chemical industries being a major source. The increasing demand for petrochemical products further worsens this problem. Green technologies such as Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (SOECs) offer a promising method to produce CO from CO2, addressing environmental and industrial challenges. SOEC technology outperforms low-temperature electrolysis in terms of Faradic efficiency and operating efficiency. Fast reaction kinetics due to high temperature and consequently high energy conversion efficiency make SOEC a more efficient choice for CO2 conversion. Although various studies on Ni-YSZ fuel electrode cells have been reported, the assignment of electrode process, stability studies at different temperatures, and analysis of degradation behavior are still lacking; these aspects form the scope of this work.
