Note: TERENO beschreitet neue Pfade mit einem interdisziplinären und langfristigen Forschungsprogramm, welches sechs Zentren der Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft einbezieht. TERENO spannt ein Netzwerk zur Erdbeobachtung über ganz Deutschland auf, welches sich von der norddeutschen Tiefebene bis zu den bayerischen Alpen erstreckt. Ziel dieses einzigartigen Großprojektes ist die Katalogisierung langfristiger ökologischer, sozialer und wirtschaftlicher Auswirkungen des globalen Wandels auf regionaler Ebene. Die Wissenschaftler und Forscher wollen die Erkenntnisse nutzen, um zu zeigen, wie die Menschheit am besten auf diese Veränderungen reagieren kann. TERENO is embarking on new paths with an interdisciplinary and long-term research programme involving six Helmholtz Association Centers. TERENO spans an Earth observation network across Germany that extends from the North German lowlands to the Bavarian Alps. This unique large-scale project aims to catalogue the longterm ecological, social and economic impact of global change at regional level. Scientists and researchers want to use their findings to show how humankind can best respond to these changes.
