Abstract: This paper describes the architecture, design and current implementation status of RESTful services within the UNICORE Services Environment. Initial prototype implementations and first applications are presented. Special care is given to the design of a flexible security layer for RESTful services which is both lightweight, and compatible with the current UNICORE 7 services.
