One of the key characteristics that underlies this mechanical role is the homeostatic pressure, which is the pressure stalling growth. In this work, we explore the possibility of a negative bulk homeostatic pressure by means of a mesoscale simulation approach and experimental data of several cell lines. We show how different cell properties change the bulk homeostatic pressure, which could explain the benefit of some observed morphological changes during cancer progression. Furthermore, we study the dependence of growth on pressure and estimate the bulk homeostatic pressure of five cell lines. Four out of five result in a bulk homeostatic pressure in the order of minus one or two kPa. 000189573 536__ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-553$$a553 - Physical Basis of Diseases (POF3-553)$$cPOF3-553$$fPOF III$$x0 000189573 588__ $$aDataset connected to CrossRef, juser.fz-juelich.de 000189573 7001_ $$0P:(DE-HGF)0$$aDelarue, M.$$b1 000189573 7001_ $$0P:(DE-Juel1)130629$$aElgeti, Jens$$b2$$ufzj 000189573 773__ $$0PERI:(DE-600)1465366-7$$a10.1209/0295-5075/109/58005$$gVol. 109, no. 5, p. 58005 -$$n5$$p58005$$tepl$$v109$$x1286-4854$$y2015 000189573 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/189573/files/0295-5075_109_5_58005.pdf$$yRestricted 000189573 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/189573/files/neghp.pdf$$yOpenAccess 000189573 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/189573/files/0295-5075_109_5_58005.pdf?subformat=pdfa$$xpdfa$$yRestricted 000189573 8564_ $$uhttps://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/189573/files/neghp.pdf?subformat=pdfa$$xpdfa$$yOpenAccess 000189573 909CO $$ooai:juser.fz-juelich.de:189573$$pdnbdelivery$$pdriver$$pVDB$$popen_access$$popenaire 000189573 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)145717$$aForschungszentrum Jülich GmbH$$b0$$kFZJ 000189573 9101_ $$0I:(DE-588b)5008462-8$$6P:(DE-Juel1)130629$$aForschungszentrum Jülich GmbH$$b2$$kFZJ 000189573 9130_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF2-451$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF2-450$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF2-400$$aDE-HGF$$bSchlüsseltechnologien$$lBioSoft: Makromolekulare Systeme und biologische Informationsverarbeitung$$vSoft Matter Composites$$x0 000189573 9131_ $$0G:(DE-HGF)POF3-553$$1G:(DE-HGF)POF3-550$$2G:(DE-HGF)POF3-500$$3G:(DE-HGF)POF3$$4G:(DE-HGF)POF$$aDE-HGF$$bKey Technologies$$lBioSoft – Fundamentals for future Technologies in the fields of Soft Matter and Life Sciences$$vPhysical Basis of Diseases$$x0 000189573 9141_ $$y2015 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bWeb of Science Core Collection 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0100$$2StatID$$aJCR 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0200$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bSCOPUS 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0110$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0111$$2StatID$$aWoS$$bScience Citation Index Expanded 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)9900$$2StatID$$aIF < 5 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0510$$2StatID$$aOpenAccess 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)1150$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bCurrent Contents - Physical, Chemical and Earth Sciences 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0300$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bMedline 000189573 915__ $$0StatID:(DE-HGF)0199$$2StatID$$aDBCoverage$$bThomson Reuters Master Journal List 000189573 9201_ $$0I:(DE-Juel1)IAS-2-20090406$$kIAS-2$$lTheorie der Weichen Materie und Biophysik $$x0 000189573 9201_ $$0I:(DE-Juel1)ICS-2-20110106$$kICS-2$$lTheorie der Weichen Materie und Biophysik $$x1 000189573 9801_ $$aFullTexts 000189573 980__ $$ajournal 000189573 980__ $$aVDB 000189573 980__ $$aUNRESTRICTED 000189573 980__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)IAS-2-20090406 000189573 980__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)ICS-2-20110106 000189573 981__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)IBI-5-20200312 000189573 981__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)IAS-2-20090406 000189573 981__ $$aI:(DE-Juel1)ICS-2-20110106
