Report No.: CCSF-47

Abstract: PARvis is a visualization environment which translates a given trace file into a variety of graphical views, e.g., state diagrams, activity charts, time-line displays, and statistics. On the Intel Paragon, PARvis takes the ipd-generated trace file and extracts the graphical information automatically; there is no need to change the source code in any way. Furthermore, debug-mode compilation is not required.PARvis supports an animation mode that can help to locate performance bottlenecks, and it provides flexible filter operations to reduce the amount of information displayed. Unlike most other tools used in this area, it has a powerful zooming feature that allows the user to identify problems at any level of detail.
