The relation between penetration depth w (or the average interfacial separation ˉu) and the applied squeezing pressure p determines the (perpendicular) contact stiffness K=dp/dw=−dp/dˉu, which is important for many applications. We have measured the relation between p and ˉu for a rubber block squeezed against 28 different concrete and asphalt road surfaces. We find a linear relation between logp and ˉu, in agreement with theory predictions. The measured stiffness values correlate rather well with the theory prediction LB - PUB:(DE-HGF)16 UR - <Go to ISI:>//WOS:000344612900020 DO - DOI:10.1007/s11249-014-0417-x UR - https://juser.fz-juelich.de/record/201791 ER -
